About Ground.Ed

Ground.Ed is on a mission to ensure that every community in Australia has a garden space for children, and that children of all abilities can access those spaces.

The research tells us that when children spend time outdoors and engage in garden activities (both planned and freely) every aspect of their learning, development and wellbeing benefits!

Hi, I’m Brooke. I’ve combined my passions for authentic nature-based education, gardening and working with children to start Ground.Ed. I am a registered Teacher, however I choose not to teach in a school setting. Instead I fill my days supporting children accessing the NDIS, implementing programs through a lens of therapeutic horticulture, or in my garden. I firmly believe that children are immensely capable of self-directed learning and involve them in session planning and garden space design as often as possible.

I am also a mum to three grown young men and two almost grown step daughters. I am grateful every day that I get to do life with my dog Pippa and my husband Andrew. Family and community are so important.

OUTCOMES WE DELIVER

Engaging garden environments that foster curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and hands-on learning. Designs that encourage safe, adventurous play and discovery through natural materials and landscapes.

Inclusive and child-centred designs that meet accessibility and therapeutic needs. Spaces shaped by children’s voices, ensuring their ideas, preferences, and play styles are reflected in every garden.

Improved wellbeing through spaces designed to engage all the senses. Gardens that nurture emotional regulation, resilience, calmness, and joy through connection with the natural environment.

Community connection and belonging through spaces that strengthen identity and relationships. By integrating gardens into neighbourhoods, schools and other shared spaces children become visible and valued in collaborative settings. Intergenerational impact is also achieved through garden spaces that engage families and mature members of the community with supporting children’s development and wellbeing.

Sustainable outcomes with planting schemes suited to local climate and low-maintenance care. We aim to educate children on caring for garden spaces in order for future generations to enjoy.

THE GROUND.ED DIFFERENCE

Ground.Ed is not just another garden design business — it’s a movement rooted in the belief that children thrive when they are grounded and gardens are the spaces for this. What sets Ground.Ed apart is its deep commitment to designing outdoor spaces with children, not just for them. By actively involving children in the creative process, each garden becomes a reflection of their communal sensory needs, curiosity, and individuality. With a background in teaching and a strong understanding of child development, Ground.Ed ensures that every design nurtures emotional regulation, imagination, and belonging. This approach makes children visible — their voices, needs, and wellbeing are at the heart of every garden created.
